What FTP settings should I use and how do I set up Filezilla? You should have already downloaded and installed Filezilla on your local PC You will first need to find the email from us containing IP address, user name and password details, supplied for your individual hosting account. If you are not using our Freehost or paid services your hosting provider should have already issued these details to you. Users of our Freehost accounts should ensure that their domain name's DNS A Record has been updated with one of our server IP addresses. Launch Filezilla and then choose File > Site Manager (You can use the Ctrl +S shortcut instead if you wish)
Another box will then appear above the main Filezilla screen. This is the Site Manager
Click on the 'New Site' button Give it a name eg MyFirstWebsite Under General or (Site Settings) according to version you need to supply the settings. These will be Host: ftp.example.com (replacing example.com with your actual domain name) Servertype: FTP Under Logontype place the radio button to 'Normal' User: Type in the username you were supplied with, eg: yoursite Password: Type in the password you were supplied with, eg: 497hjer4d Click the 'Connect' button Filezilla should connect to the server, allowing you to upload files. |
